The plot definitely makes up for the annoying, grammatically incorrect way to use dashes! The mystery is being built up well, I couldn't put it down for nearly two hours while outside, even though I was having to look out for both a cat on a leach and an off leach dog. (On my parents yard, in a quiet countryside home, so not many dangers to have to worry about. I would never put animals at risk.)

The dashes indicating speech and using them to also show jumps in thought text is really frustrating, but at least the story is interesting.
