When is the last time I read literature about happy things: empathy, kindness, love? Sure there is trauma, regret, and detachment; that is life, But it is more about love, communication, connection, and honor. I want to read more about that. It is lovely!

I do love Ann Patchett! These words are, ironically, lovely beyond words.

Yup, those things exist, too.

I have this one and Strout (among many, many others - of course!) staring at me from my TBR pile, what an abundance of riches w/ new releases this year!

It is so moving, so beautiful, without being saccharine. I was quite disappointed in the new Strout, but even disappointing Strout is better than most things. Is Buckeye in your pile of newer releases? I just read that, and I think you would like it.

Hey Bonnie -- it turns out I do have a e-copy of Buckeye. I am pretty sure I scooped it up when it was on sale as I heard good things about it, but given your review and recommendation might have to get it back on my radar. That's the problem with my chronic impulse e-book purchases, they pile up and don't quite stare at me like my physical book purchases, ha!

I look at my Kindle library, and I rarely recall buying the majority of unread books there. You probably make better choices. Buckeye was a winner -- not perfect, but really enjoyable.
It is a gentle and perfectly crafted book. Meike. It has been a joy to read. If you like Patchett I think you will be a fan.

Now I look like a microneedled tomato and I have to stay inside, but at least I have the new Patchett! :-)
Ha, just think how gorgeous you will be after the reading and recovery! I like gentle skin treatments and so have never been microneedled, but maybe one day

GoodReads: Books and Skincare! ;-)
