I lied, Lan- Eff's twin brother is only the seventh son of a seventh son, not a third seventh son. Don't know why I thought that, maybe I just wanted to say "seventh" more. I read for an hour I think.

The character is a little girl named Eff, and the book is set in the time where Americans were moving west, but in the book there's magic. Everyone wants a seventh son, who is a talented Mage. The seventh son of a seventh son is always very powerful by anyone's standards. And the seventh son of the seventh son of a seventh son is everything, the most powerful, lucky, loved. Eff is a thirteenth child the unlucky-est.
