Just started reading the sixteenth story, "Children of the Corn". Dysfunctional couple Burt and Vicky are on a road trip to rekindle their marriage when they run over a kid who barged out of the cornfield with a slit throat. As they continue down the road, they hear a teenage preacher give a sermon on the radio, lambasting "defilers of the corn", and Vicky finds a corn crucifix in the boy's suitcase. Creepy!

Beth starts to love Ed even more because their interests align and he doesn't push her to do things she doesn't want to. What a considerate man. Just like mine. Only my man doesn't read my mind. Ed, however, seems sus. Is there a bad guy among us? Lol! Sorry, I'm on weed right now.

Beth is back to school, though she and Alice have grown a little distant due to the final exam last year. However, Ed hasn't been calling her, and she's a little upset over it. She tries looking up his address but finds nothing but the street name. Alice, however, starts receiving envelopes in the mail with no return address. Coincidence, or related?
