The two thugs follow about a day behind them, and seemingly hallucinate the resurrection of the girl who killed her cat and ate rat poison. This book is only getting weirder.

A bunch of the local drunks gather at the bar on the estate waiting for the two thugs to return from supposedly being dead. A little girl wanders around the estate to avoid her abusive mother and on impulse decides to corner and drown their cat. Her older brother convinces her that if she buries her money it will grow a money tree.

Then he goes out looking for more beer in a thunderstorm and collapses in the mud. The previous chapter details the return of two thugs that were thought to be dead.
