idk if i’ve ever read a straight romance from a man’s perspective (not that this is a romance but it has a side plot in it!) usually male mc books they just kinda are like wow she’s cool and then she’s into him and he’s like hell yeah :) i’ve never seen a man yearn like this

it’s so funny how he keeps skipping over the expected action sequences, and then slowly giving you glimpses of it in the rear view mirror

big fan of the care taken to set up an in-world reason as to why a historic, generally sexist society would pivot to widespread female knights, and the many other knock on effects of the repeated goblin wars, wreaking havoc on the population of men, of horses, of disease, of social structure. very well thought out.

I am so impressed by this book, the richness of the world he manages to sprinkle in without ever feeling info dumpy, the unique quirky main character without feeling overdone, the palpable yearning for the near-extinct horses. I stg if they don’t get their hands on a horse by the end of this…

oooo such a strong voice to the writing. don’t think I can continue w the audiobook tho, like I love that ur narrating ur own book but my god get a better mic. combined w the irish (?) accent it’s tough to understand
