I’m on page ten and HOLY SHIT THIS SUCKS SO MUCH ASS. I would rather endure nineteen more seasons of supernatural than this. I would rather endure LORE OLYMPUS THAN THIS. OH MY GOD. HOW BAD CAN YOU BE AT WRITING. This will truly see how much I will endure to see Roman Mythology in writing. Lauren Bear if I see you it’s ON SIGHT. ANYONE WHO THINKS STONE BLIND IS THE WORSE SHOULD READ THIS.

One chapter, TWO PAGES, just a summary of how the Silvian line came to be. Anthos chapter was okay. The deaths were bland and I don’t care about any of the characters. Anthos timid, simple, gentle nature is bad when her parents want it but good when her make love interest wants it. None of these characters matter. And everyone has to be in every scene ALL THE TIME.

The ‘bad guys’ have traits like unibrows, limps, scars (specifically grotesque), and the prince who Rhea can’t imagine ever loving is just described as plump and pale. Every chapter so far has just added more fuel to what I fear the books message is that, Rhea’s only talent is fertility. She’s not good at anything but being wild, snarky, pretty, “different” and the fact she can give birth.

Congrats! You’ve gone from offensive to okay, but seriously boring. How do you make meeting a god in the forest boring? Not to mention the placement of modern beauty standards onto ancient Roman individuals. Rhea is being portrayed as a dark and unholy woman, who’s not really good at anything but super interesting and pretty. Dead mom trope, evil aunt trope, and it’s hard to tell the setting in time and place.
