The style is written like a young girl would think and talk. There is naturally no difference between her "journal entries" and the rest of the narration. Sometimes the book it is hard to follow because her thoughts are more of a stream of consciousness than a storyline with a plot, but it does a good job putting us in her mind and experiencing things the way she is experiencing them. I forget the girls are 16.
