This book is the “it’s a small world after all” song in story form

When I started reading this book knowing almost nothing about it except that it is a highly revered French classic about revenge the last thing I expected to be in this book is an extremely longggg chapter about Edmond doing shrooms with a Baron

Every time I pick this book up I feel like I made so much progress in the story and then I realize there’s still like 1000 pages left to go 💀
