I love Murakami and this is no exception. His ability to meld the surreal and the ordinary is exceptional. I am a little disappointed that he has not (possibly yet)introduced a talking cat but there is plenty of time yet.

Hi, Huw! Had to lol at your talking cat comment. (I have 1Q84 sitting here to start reading, just haven't gotten to that part of my stack yet.) In the meantime, if you're wanting a talking cat, check out The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov -- it's the book I'm currently reading. I think it's definitely one you'd enjoy. :-)
