I understand Corvo, Durand and Prince Alexander’s frustrations with Hadrian. Because their sense of urgency is needed to counter the Cielcin attack, but Hadrian is prioritizing finding answers about the Quiet. I understand that sentiment also since the attack came at a bad time, but I’m more on the crew’s side because they are the ones losing their homeworlds, it’s lowkey a selfish decision on his part.

Similar to the encounter with Brethren, this is a lot of information. There are many other beings that move through time more than forward, more divine beings. Brethren is a sister to Horizon, the God Emperor was helped by Interference to defeat the machines. Mericanii’s purpose was to ascend to godhood like the other beings. It’s a lot I still have to process.

I was not expecting the Mericanii to be revealed as the United States after all who destroyed humanity. Although it should’ve have been expected considering our real history. It was still unexpected to see fiction bleed through real life references, it makes the lore of the series even more lived in and plausible. I like this arc, it’s a chill pause filled with answers and information.

Their reunion is so bittersweet. For as much as they missed each other, the realization with Gibson that Hadrian has changed through everything he experienced is a hit in the gut, even if Hadrian wanted Gibson to believe him, their longstanding friendship outweighed his disappointment. It makes me wonder if they’ll go back to that scar and tackle it. I feel like it’s imminent.

I’m in awe of being reunited with Tor Gibson. It always pulled at my chest whenever Hadrian turned to Gibson whenever he seeks help and has no one to turn to. It’s very nice to see his yearning for his mentor materialize in reality. Of course he’d find him here, of course!

It’s the first time Hadrian has been honest with anyone but with himself and Valka. It sends a powerful message to admit to the Emperor himself that he serves the Quiet or at least takes to their calling as well as admit to being unkillable considering how much he dances around it. This level of honesty changes their dynamic by a lot, truth be told, Caesar doesn’t pose much of a threat to him in my opinion.
