Another ok book, 3.75 stars. Enjoyable but not close to perfection. I also hate sex trafficking books since the fear of it is too real to want to think about in my hobby time. Thatcher (born sociopath) and Lyra (made one) next. I thought she would be obsessed with him because she wanted to kill him. seems she’s obsessed because she wants to be a killer (and she now is when she saved him at the end of this book).

Poor Silas, thinking he’s going to die and be with Rosemary. Now for the main couple? They have serious problems—Rook freaking burned/branded her without her permission but she’s happy about it? I thought he didn’t want to hurt her anymore?

Of course, he didn’t really kill his mom. Child caused car accident.

So she spilled her guts about everything after he attacked her as a liar (but then had consenting sex?) and he pretty much believed her, mostly because of her telling Rook about Cain. Now he and the boys are going to kill the FBI agent for her. What about her dad? What about Easton who pretty much confessed to being a part of the trafficking ring?

Book 1 confirmed Easton was a bad guy, but now seems his dad is in charge of the kidnapping and trafficking ring in the town.

They are sneaking around but rook doesn’t know she’s in a forced engagement to Easton. As alluded to, he’s responsible for his mom’s death and that’s why his father hates/beats him.

Audiobook so far, may convert to kindle reading. We are still in the past while Rose is alive, their last year in high school. Rook and Sage are “hating” each other though intrigued. Same as last book. I hope this switches up.
