The fact that Helena promised Kaine she wouldn’t break 🧍🏻‍♀️ and then she lost all her memories and THE BEGINNING OF THE BOOK HAPPENED!!!!!! And she broke 🥹 just a little.

Also Luc is pissing me off. AND I HATE CROWTHER!!!!!

Love a man and his dog, horse, bird creature 😔✌🏻

And the heart of the story is Helena and Kaine’s building relationship UGH SO GOOD

it doesn’t matter what Helena does or how many pieces she splits herself into and gives up for Luc and the resistance all they care about is the evil they think she could! Become.

Pure brilliance!

The cross-section between:
Science, politics, mythology, war, psychology, the magic system, and religion IS SO WELL DONE. Everything impacts everything else!!!!
So amazing and so well thought out!
The science contradicts the faith in a mirror of real life!!!
And at the centre of everything is what would people do to keep their humanity/what happens when they loose their humanity.

Senlinyu is a master at making me cry!
They also do a great job at making Helena feel like an ‘other’ and an outsider in Luc and Lila and Soren’s stories/lives. Almost as if she has intruded on them and not the other way around.
