What was his thought process as for not reporting Frank despite Frank telling him to do so? Did he feel bad for him because of what he had heard? Does he relate or identify with him? or is it just a case of Stockholm Syndrome?

I don't think he's been punished enough because he's still able to these vile things.

I feel bad laughing in a middle of a vile scene but the insertion of the dark humour is pretty funny.

It's kinda embarrassing if your dream is to be able to shop at "Niketown" and get shoes... I honestly don't know why Frank had a sudden shift of the mention of this when it's just Foreign-stereotypization of a certain place :P
