As a native Wisconsinite, I completely empathize with the catastrophic nightmare that is late spring snow.

This whole Pablo situation is really getting out of hand, for sure thought he was done for here.

I particularly enjoyed Robert just talking about himself and America with everyone in the cave - especially how something (homesteading) with revolutionary potential can become a conservative force

Shit’s getting real dark. Learning about Robert’s family was a bit of a gut punch; I fear the man is just not doing too hot at this point.

Very tense couple of chapters following our first time seeing Robert kill an enemy soldier. While he’s definitely locked in on the actual soldier work, I fear his mental state is getting worse by the page.

Pilar is just so unrelentingly sassy, I love her.

Got real introspective and philosophical in these chapters.

Particularly enjoyed getting some actual discussion of the different factions in play here with Karkov - sadly I get the feeling Roberto won’t be seeing his friends in Madrid very soon.

Pilar was on some shit talking about the death smell.

Chapter 10 is simply haunting to read through. There are moments of black comedy that give some levity sprinkled in - Pablo not understanding how to cock a pistol, the drunkard with the matches - but these don’t detract at all from the brutality displayed.

Pilar is very quickly becoming my favorite character; I wish Maria didn’t feel like a literal child at times.

Robert and Maria are absolute FREAKS.

“The woman of Pablo” being the one to command all of the respect is great, and interesting that despite this she’s still referred to as his woman.

The tension both around the mission and specifically with Pablo has been ramping up notably, looking forward to the payoff.

Love the conversation with Anselmo about the morality as well as efficacy of killing your perceived enemy

I disagree with Robert Jordan: please keep thinking, I’m loving his stream of consciousness and analysis of his comrades. Loving the bleak atmosphere and already building tension.
