My man Godfrey,; gentlemen prefer blondes; the court jester; duck soup, and a night at the opera; it’s a gift; the nutty professor; it’s a wonderful life.

Funny, we had a different takeaway on that story about young Natalie watching “Citizen Kane.“ Sounds to me like she was totally ready for the movie.

On the other hand, he’s horribly spoilered me now on LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN. He didn’t need to, and I wish he hadn’t.

So I don’t want to be completely stupid about it. I’m actually reading this linearly as opposed to just dipping in, because the guy’s got a fairly entertaining narrative going regarding his and his family’s experiences. His commentary is droll, and some of the movies he describes actually aren’t movies I’ve seen even if I know they may exist.

This was on the pull list for someone the other day, and it’s something I actually think about a lot, because I do want my kids to grow up watching and open to watching older movies, classic, black and white, silent, what have you. They’ve seen some wonderfully weird things, but still just a fraction of what I think they could watch, but I also know what the pitfalls could be: the gross old racist bits.
