I’m not a fan of Sabine nor the joy she gets out of taking innocent lives. I understand the need in order to survive, but couldn’t she use this newfound hunger & power to take on evil rather than embodying it? I’m wondering how the widow would view her antics & company she’s kept.
I do like how this section depicts our want for like-minded people, our need to belong & connect. She still has a lot to learn.

I’m fine with the girls satiating their unrelenting hunger by killing predatory and/or awful people, but if you bring innocents into this, I will have a problem.
I do like following the girls as they slowly realize what’s happened to them & the new rules they must live by. Their reality has changed forever.

Did Lottie turn Alice or just sample her for the night? From Alice’s symptoms & some of Lottie’s characteristics, I suspected the reveal that came with Maria’s next section.
Damn, Maria is ruthless! The widow misjudged the longing, anger, & hunger within her. I joked previously about using Aqua Tofana (which the widow may or may have done to her own an husband) on Andres, but this works too.
Good for her.

At first I was worried Lottie was afflicted with the same curse as Addie La Rue, but it seems people can at least remember her. She just flees before attachment can be made. I hope she & Alice meet again. I already ship them.
Maria is learning that marrying into wealth is not be the escape she hoped & she is just a bejeweled prisoner & pawn. She needs some Aqua Tofana for Andres. He married off Ysabel to punish her.

While Maria’s introduction gave vibes of young Addie La Rue, Alice is so similar to me in places that I feel a little called out. Her insecurity, her introversion, her social anxiety, her awkwardness, her longing to be different, her history of being told there’s something wrong with the way she operates in life.
I like the early crossover with one of the other leads, & damn, Lottie would seduce me too.
