The author of this historical book is Russell Freedman. I'm gonna read more of his works...he has an enjoyable style of explaining history in concise terms

So the Americans (thru OSS, the precursor to CIA) aided Ho Chi Minh's independence forces during their fight against the Japanese occupiers in the 1940s. Fascinating to see how it will turn to bite the Americans again later! Ha!
