I like the way William Bradford writes; it's not as difficult to understand as you might think. The language and spelling have been modernized. Also, his sentence structure flows quite well.

The biggest revelation so far is that, while the Pilgrims did leave England due to religious persecution, they did not leave Holland for that reason. Partly, a 12-year truce with Spain was ending, and war was on the horizon.
