As the story rolls on we find out that the main character, Greg Slam Harris, is the kid that no passion for school and no respect for others. He is a kid that is selfish, independent, and cocky. Greg's only upside is that he has a great amount of talent on the basketball court. His nickname "Slam" comes from the way he dunks the ball. However, Greg's only upside gets taken away from him as his grades are failing.

By looking at the cover picture of Slam! I immediatly guessed that the protagonist in this novel would be a basketball player who was either affected by or in jail. However, this story and the main character could not of been more different then my initial opinion. Thus far, Slam! has caught my attention from the very first chapter.
