There’s a lot Bond is doing with this story that I appreciate.

I resonate with Mick, who—unlike Troy’s outward reactions—turns inward to question the true nature and value of things. Troy attacks and judges, shaped by a past that keeps him guarded. Mick, given the privilege of reflecting on life’s gifts, weighs their value. I love his underlying theme: you can’t understand life by just thinking—you have to live it!

I feel like these kids did more growing up in 14 years than some adults at 40. Times were different.

I love how Mick questions social norms and just wants to be a bear in the woods.

Troy comes into the story like a lone wolf but soon finds his pack and becomes protective of it.

There’s something special that runs like an undercurrent through this story.

If the bear and the wolf grow apart, it will break my heart.
