Romney's vote to convict the President during the impeachment trial may be the last act of Republican courage I will see in my lifetime.

Reading of Romney's introduction to the Senate reminds me of DKG's chapters on LBJ in the Senate and lifts up a sticky question: How do persuade make old men with nothing else in their lives to make their jobs less important or relevant?

That said, Romney, whom I have always admired for his principles, not summoning the moral courage to face down outrageous demands from dumb voters is disappointing, if not surprising.

I have, it seems, finally reached that age at which debatable historical narratives become accepted truths.
