Good progress, Simon: There's a very similar novel from Brazil on how Sherlock Holmes comes to Rio to track down a new phenomenon, the "seri-ki", or serial killer. The novel is by TV talk show host Jo Soares and has been published in English as A SAMBA FOR SHERLOCK.
