Victor talks about all the natural philosophy information he as learned while studying at school. He and M. Waldman have become god friends, M. Waldman being a mentor to Victor. He talks about his interest in the human body and its anatomy. This is when he starts experimenting and seeing how far he can push the limits of science.

Victor explains his father's best friend fell into poverty w/ his daughter. When friend passes away, his daughter was left with nothing & victors father took her in and eventually married her. The were had a very loving marriage & when they had Victor he was their pride &joy. His mother wanted to help the poor & one day saw a family foster a beautiful girl. They adopted Elizabeth & presented her as a gift to Victor.
