We breathe angrily at each other until he growls, “You’ve got a big mouth for such a little thing.”
“And you’ve got a little brain for such a big thing. Even if you do kill me, do you really think you’ll get out of this place alive?”

Malek & Riley

The man who tried to rescue me from a life of prostitution and gently cupped my face in his hand like it was made of porcelain is a Russian assassin of such terrifying reputation, he makes “regular” killers like Spider quake in their boots.

Riley about Malek after speaking with Spider

I say breathlessly, “But you’re not a danger to me.”
“Not to you, no.”
The way he says “you” confirms my suspicions.
Malek isn’t a danger to me, but he is a danger to other people.
People, for instance, like my future brother-in-law, the head of the Irish Mob.

Riley- “So you’re telling me you’re a good guy?”
Malek- After a pause, he says darkly, “No. I’m not good. In fact, Riley Rose, I’m the worst man you’ll ever meet.”

The banter between Spider and Riley is fantastic!

I’m angry with myself that I frightened her.
I’m even more angry that I care that I frightened her.
I never care about scaring anyone. No matter their gender.
I’ve been the recipient of people’s fear for so long, it no longer means anything to me.
But hers did. I hate that.

Malek about Riley
