The chapter where they were waiting for the train to pass was nice. The part about communism and how you get told that Velutha knows all about the machines and carpentry and could’ve become an engineer if he was born as a Brahmin. That part was sad because I can’t imagine the fact that something you can’t control predicates the way you get told live your life and the opportunities you can get.

It’s funny reading about the stuff I kinda relate to when I go to Sri Lanka and I kinda of feel the same sort of way towards the idea of not fitting in with either cultures that I’ve been brought up with.

A lot of metaphors that make me think. I liked the quote a quiet bubble floating in a sea of noise.
