both plot lines are actually just distractions and serve no purpose in the grand scheme of things, no wonder i was having such a hard time becoming invested. the main "lore" drops and mystery reveals come from epigraphs which ruin the fun. plus, yomen is the dumbest antagonist, the world is literally ending and all you want to do is have petty arguments?

beldre is the most boring and repetitive character to exist oml... and given how repetitive this entire book is in general, beldre really had to go above and beyond 💫🚀 for this title 🤩🥰

the plot is moving at a snail's pace, especially in elend and vin's povs (which are inundated with recaps, even though we're 30% into the book). the story is not as engaging as the first two books, and brandon sanderson's matter-of-fact writing style is not helping much.
