More than once, I put a hand to my belly, wondering if it would be so bad if sometimes things I secretly wished for happened a little out of order this time. Our lives were always out of order, but there was also joy in some of that chaos. Maybe a few more surprises wouldn’t be so bad.

You can love, support, and nurture your kids but that doesn’t mean they won’t make a few mistakes. Sometimes those mistakes have serious consequences. And sometimes parents make mistakes in judgement too.
