I’m enjoying this book alot more towards the end. I think I’m attached enough to the characters and that they’ve developed enough in their own stories that I actually care where they’re going next, though arguably I feel like it shouldn’t have taken so dang long to like them. Truthfully I had a REALLY great time reading the summer ball. I KNEW something was going to happen but just the opulence and party atmosphere and drama in general were nice to read. I couldn’t tear myself away from that chapter. Especially the intrigue about the Satrap being plotted against, which, good because I hate him. But still. A really great chapter. DAVAD IS DEAD ALSO YAAAYYY AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAA

Tbh I wish I could go to a damn summer ball, y’know? Idk what’s about to happen but I partly feel like it’ll be a turning point. Also I’m about to start working on my Last Unicorn script. I think. Eek. Idk.

I just realized how long it’s taking me to finish this book. It’s definitely leaps and bounds better than the last one, but I still have an underlying hatred and loathing and slight boredom from this series. Truly the Fool being in it is almost 75 percent of the reason I’m reading. I LOVE seeing him come out in little bits as Amber and seeing Amber’s character in general. Soo.. I like this book again. Even if the last chapter + the one I just read was unnecessarily traumatizing. I feel like there is a way to show and tell how horrible things happen in a way that is not graphic and uncaringly blunt and triggering.
