Every joke, every poll is a stress test of responsiveness: can he still move markets with a post? Can he tutor the algorithm and the underlying training data to push it further rightward?

The authors do not mention this, but I am struck by the fact that the science-fiction author Cyril Kornbluth, who also held strong eugenic views, famously did the same thing.
