Sweet story of becoming a “grandpa” and recognizing the value of convenience stores and that work isn’t more important than kids, not much of the convenience store characters, though I guess the women who swoon over the manager having a group that takes trips together is adding something to the lore.

Retirement is hard apparently, I’d like to try it anyway though. ;)

Were there other slaps earlier in the chapter? A history of violence from this girl beyond just being socially overbearing? I’m not willing to listen to high school drama again to find out for sure.

This chapter I also remember, “fat” girl sneaks away to eat convenience store treats, uses the Tuesday store visits to befriend the class outcast (who is focused on her dying father, not popularity much to the offending of the popular), and grows a backbone by getting out of the shadow of her mom’s best friend’s daughter. I think I missed the end details but it could be another chapter includes her.

I may skip relistening to this chapter, I feel like I remember everything that happened with this teacher who wanted to draw manga and feels passionate about coffee and roasted egg sandwiches. He quit teaching, moved home, the junk man finds him and says there’s more to drawing than just published manga, and later chapters show he’s back and the mom clerk becomes a mentor in online manga publishing.

A family of five kids, somehow I only remember the junk man, the manager, and the little sister, the other two brothers I missed the first time through. Shiba and Sugi (or Suki?) are what the names sound like. Dangers of audiobooks where you can’t see the spelling of names… It seems like there’s another person in this conversation but I can’t figure out who, another brother maybe but the name is not clear.

These chapters are way too long, an hour and a half for one chapter??

This junk man is some kind of life coach whose medium is feeding people.

I do admire people who share their art. I’d like to read her manga.

I decided to start over and pay more attention to better understand the family of beautiful people.
