It is a testament that not only does this book perfectly tie into the whole series, but on a re-read I really realize its brilliance. The concepts are basic, but the character work and the reveals and world building is the type of subtle that works so much better and is a masterclass in its craft that so many current books fail to understand.

There have been so many amazing in hindsight lines but the one that has really made me feel like a shot of adrenaline and a kick to the chest: "One shop only sold earrings, and I watched wistfully as it went by." Six books of context to make something so insignificant have such meaning. Seriously, peerless series with a force behind it that is unheard of.
