At first I was a little put off by how much this book focuses on faith in relation to pain, but the more I read, the more I'm won over by it's consistent inclusion: the author makes such a good point about how pain so often drives us to or away from faith. It's a uniquely human thing, and refreshing to read a perspective I wouldn't have normally gravitated towards.

Interesting to learn that the subtitle for this in America is "The Body, Pain & Faith" -- I imagine it was changed to "Notes From A Body In Pain" in the UK because we're not quite so religious, on the whole? I probably wouldn't have picked it up personally if it still had its original subtitle, even though I agree that pain can be intrinsically linked to the spiritual for so many people.
