i’m actually starting to like this so far. more and more layers behind jolene’s coworkers are being peeled back, and if nothing else, natalie sue can sure cook up a really sweet, caring and goofy ML! she knows what’s good.

okay i may have spoiled myself by reading the last 2 pages, but i wanted to make sure jolene does get a happy ending. she does, i’m happy and not as anxious while reading. so far, her workplace still feels like hell, but i’m seeing more of the human aspect, when jolene thinks that she doesn’t want rhonda to be fired actually. (maybe caitlin though)

toeing the line between comically relatable and nearly unrealistic. i can see a glimpse of characters being human, but it’s overshadowed by mirroring high school politics at work and pushing much of family and peer pressure. there is a lack of grey area that i see is more common in the adult lives around me. very trope-y and more psychological horror than comedy so far from jolene’s perspective 😭

initial reading so far: there comes a time when there’s such a thing as too much witticisms in a page, when they can be found in nearly every paragraph. however, i do love jolene’s dry, currently pessimistic perspective of things, in contrast to cliff’s golden retriever-like attitude! (but, jolene, caitlin’s soup does not justify such a postscript 😭 [and cover your tracks more!])
