sliverstein isn’t 100% my genre because it is so heavy and i lean more pop/skate punk but it was really interesting to learn a more metal adjacent history and good to know about them if they are essentially Canada’s most successful emo band.

billy talent has some of the coolest lore: being incredibly famous in germany, their drummer has MS, they achieved success starting in the mid 20s, and got where they did because a record representative liked them so much she promoted them to others when her boss wouldn’t sign them. kinda iconic

simple plan i didn’t know you had this type of history. or that you are québécois. respect.

the chapter on Sum 41 was very interesting, especially the history of their second and third albums — had no idea about those experiences and how it shaped their music, nor would have ever particularly noticed if not for it being pointed out

the chapter on Gob was really interesting and i had no idea how trailblazing (or how rambunctious) they were. liked the additional listening recommendations like Chixdiggit!
