Earth considered less civilized than Spacers (became independent from Earth during The Great Rebellion)
Enderby (Baley’s arch rival prob one-sided lol) is police commissioner, on city side of the Dr. Sarton murder investigation. Fastov of Space Town is the Spacer’s side
Baley and R Daneel head to Space Town (not a dome but open air) where city dwellers have to shower first lollllll (ironic since they are open-air)

+good detective procedural (clues make sense)
+baddie doesn't lay out entire plan at the end (if it weren't for you lousy kids types)
+many allegories do I have space to list them all?
-I think I was little confused on what Spacers truly wanted from Earth, I'll have to read some analysis on this, but this is more my shortcoming than the novel's, as I used audiobook
-the wife. big oof. 50's era is apparent here

With broken glasses he shot the wrong one, and there were pieces of glass at the scene (the lenses)
Enderby admits it's true (I like that he didn't confess his whole plan but that Bayley figured it out and logically so)
Daneel quotes bible "go and sin no more" to Bayley

Enderby easily forgave Bayley on his accusation of Daneel and didn't take him off the case (gained confidence now that he wasn't suspected anymore), broke his glasses in Space Town
He put a blaster in R Sammy's hand and had him do the traveling to Space Town (a human wouldn't make that trek)
Enderby didn't place to commit murder, wanted to destroy Daneel but he looks like Dr. Sarton

Enderby says a man told him his wife was a Medievalist and uses her full name, which she doesn’t use
Bayley accuses Enderby of framing him: knowing his wife is part of this group, begged Bayley to take the case and tried to make him distrust Daneel, and he's a Medievalist! (old-fashioned glasses, insists on having a window) and thru him his wife found out Daneel was a robot (nobody else knew but Bayley and him)

Daneel contacted Enderby and finds out R Sammy has been murdered (Enderby’s robot assistant) in the police station: same day his wife came to visit, the person R Sammy replaced came to visit and Bayley was last to see robot alive
Also, murder weapon was some alpha sprayer that was traced to a facility they passed thru during their escape from the dining hall staring ppl

His wife visits him and talks about what the Medievalist meetings were like, just harmless speeches and get-togethers, no riots or murder; leader was Clemon
But, they wanted to put a stop to the robot invasion rn and it was about her husband
Daneel describes the ppl he saw to see if she remembers them (she is quite annoying, idk if this is character or 50’s misogyny) one she remembers is a yeast farmer Francis

Bayley dreams of pushing his wife over an edge;
Daneel still doesn’t know how his wife knew he was a robot (she heard a rumor, which Daneel denies as there would be riots if such rumor existed) thus D wants to suspect her and thinks she is a Medievalist and thinks it’s strange that she sent their son to him
Dr. confirms Daneel abides by 1st law
Daneel is able to use cerebral analysis to discern temperament

After escaping the dining hall they take shelter in apt where Bayley’s son appears, having been sent by his wife, to check on him
Bayley calls in a roboticist for his expertise (he is fooled into thinking Daneel is a human for some time) and suggests that the murder weapon was never found. It could’ve been hidden in a robot’s food sack. He wants the Dr’s expertise in his theory of a robot committing this murder

Fastov says Earth’s problem is overpopulation and may collapse while Spacers’ problem is underpopulation (300+ lifespan!), solution is for Earth to colonize new planets
While eating in dining hall, 6 people from the shoe store riot in the beginning are there and they are staring. Later Daneel disposes of the food he ate, untouched and stored in his food sack.

Baley says Dr. Sarton is alive and points to Daneel. Proof: saw his private parts in shower (why replicate that if not to be used), he pulled a gun on civilians (he didn’t shoot and would never shoot) and this would start riots which benefits Spacers as they can come down and dominate when Earth was weak.
Daneel shows the metal and wiring under his arm skin.
Fastov, despite his misstep, won’t kick him off the case
