There’s something about the prose I’m not connecting with and I can’t quite put my finger on it. It feels very distant, and I don’t think that’s necessarily the author’s intention? Maybe a show don’t tell problem. I also think I’m doing this book a disservice reading it right after a Barbara Kingsolver book?? Maybe??
