The word ‘Reavers’. My first encounter with it was The Witcher (I think). It became common word to me with Firefly/Serenity. It’s interesting that it’s used here.
While not in the dictionary it’s clearly a word the fantasy genre (across many media’s) has taken to mean barbarians, cannibals, or butchers.

Finally the full prophecy and some details about our leading man. A little bit info dumpy in its dialogue between our lady and the ‘enemy’ man but at least we got some details. The plot is very thin here. If not for the good writing and prose I think I’d be very annoyed. However I’m still flipping pages quick enough so will see where it goes. I do hope our lead gal gets a bit less annoying…

This was going so well…and then it got a lot like every other enemies romantasy and that is disappointing. It’s immensely readable, very fast paced, but the decisions our lead girl is making and some of the dialogue is getting to be a bit cliche. The lore is also just meh. I mean you want to base your book on a prophecy but never actually give it in full in the narrative!! Kind of insulted as a fantasy reader…

”The biggest great you will ever face, the toughest battle you will ever fight, is against your own limit”
As an ex-addict this resonates… the toughest battle is the internal struggle to have a limit and keep it. An interesting comparison when it comes to the use of magic…

I can’t seem to put this down! Nothing shocking in terms of tropes but it’s soo captivating and well written. Alas I must sleep a couple hours before working in the AM. (lol)
