These past months, I have constantly thought about this book. I wasn’t prepared for how shocking the story was; probably Faulkner’s bleakest.
I tried reading many books in between, but as I started and stopped other novels, I kept peeking at this paperback slotted between the others—first with hate, then with a kind of desperate yearning. I wondered whether I should resume it, and when I did, my mind latched onto it.

Give me any other type of horror. Read me Cthulhu, The Troop, or The Exorcist, and I'll sleep like a baby. But Sanctuary is a different kind of horror, for it shows the level of depravity one may stoop to, and I can't believe we can stoop to such a low bar in life.
