The highs and lows of discovery are so real

As a scientist, who does a fair amount of computer vision, hearing loosely about the algorithm Mike Brown wrote for detecting planets had me wishing for more details.

The idea of a group of astronomer standing around with a Polaroid trying to figure out if the image coming through the telescope matches the Polaroid picture, tilting their heads different directions to try and figure it out was quite funny.

Never knew that Ceres was added and removed as a planet back in the 1800s. Also, did not know that there was a tradition of naming planets and then naming newly discovered elements after the planets. Ceres>cerium, Uranus>uranium
