Finding it hard going - lots of maybes and we can’t knows. Some fascinating aspects of history are being rambled through rather than explained. This book reads like someone who hopes their supervisor will agree with their dissertation, so they’re making lots of vague points rather than sticking to one idea. There is little sense of enthusiasm or passion, which is surprising and a shame.
