Basically what had happened is that Brynn and her best friend were extremely close. Her best friend followed Brynn on the night that she was sexually assaulted. She ended up taking photos of them, dragging Brynne‘s body to a car, and she ended up following the hitman with Bryn’s body all the way to Louisiana, where he tried to dispose of her body in a swamp. Brynn‘s best friend ended up recovering her and nursing her back to health, but Brynn always wanted to exact her revenge on Dominic.

Then the lieutenant governor Samuel, Jolene, and Brynn and the best friend. I’ll meet to devise a plan. Basically they go to Dominic‘s family cabin and a bunch of stuff happens, but basically they end up framing Dominic for the death of the hitman, as well as abusing both Bryn and the best friend. The police end up being called by Jolene because she set up this whole thing and Dominic as well as the guy that sexually assaulted Brynn ended up going to jail.

It turns out that Jolene’s college bully the amputee also had a son with Dominic, he was leading an entirely different life with them and had a little family altogether. So at the end of the book, Jolene ends up giving this lady a bunch of money to help take care of the son now that the dad is in jail, and she also ends up giving Brendan and the best friend money so that they could kickstart their lives. The book ended on a happy note.
