Well it’s certainly been fun reading the Mayfair Incest Chronicles, I mean the Mayfair Witches Chronicles. I will say of the descendants, Julien is quite interesting, since he is presumably a witch which doesnt seem to happen often, as that power clings to the women more often.

Honestly love the storytelling device of old correspondence, it’s very charming. Petyr is an interesting character and his investment in the Mayfair line seems obsessive, but less so when you realize he fathered Deborah’s only surviving child.

Christ, Comtesse Deborah’s tale is grim. But hey, if she’s going out, she’s taking everyone with her. Her sons, her mother-in-law. Gotta respect resting on business. But Lasher is very obviously bad news, whatever he is.

Love Petyr as a narrator. ‘How curious it is that these religious people believe the devil to be so stupid that he should seek to corrupt only the poor and powerless—why not the King of France for once?’

Okay this book has my attention now. It took far too long, 200 damn pages, but there’s a rhythm now. The instalove still annoys me. But, I can put that aside for now as the Talamasca stuff is intriguing. Interested to read the Mayfair Witches lore

So if Lasher is showing up to bother Rowan, that must mean Deirdre is dead. God I hope this gets more interesting soon, I’m still aboard the struggle bus
