This reads like a children's book. Not even YA. Nothing wrong with that, but it's mismarketted. Not sure why I bought it. I'm hoping it improves but I feel I am being talked down to. It's marketed as fantasy so I'm not going to moan about the dubious history but... Am I being taught to suck eggs?
Also it could do with an edit... Too much of the language is too modern. This is a far cry from Philip Pullman
