Late 1960s & Early 70s America had more teenagers than before. Following the watergate scandal celebrity worship gave rise to Ronald Regan cause he was like an “outsider” to traditional politics. The Vietnam war made more Americans [white] feel like they couldn’t trust the government so politician worship was out and celebrity worship was in! (Of course not in its totality but like even more so)
