Chromophobia huh

I couldn't lay all of my insecurities at Lucas Banks's feet. Some of them were courtesy of Angela. Some of them came from just being a girl in a world that is appallingly mean to girls. Do any of us escape unscathed?

I guess Angela wanted me to be extraordinary.

She was trying to teach me the rules of being a successful woman as she understood them. And it never occurred to her that women might be able to write those rules for themselves.

It was one thing to be body-positive in theory-and quite another to do it in reality.

It was such an odd idea, when you think about it: that I could hurt the world back by hurting myself.

But it was the best I could come
up with at the time.

That's an art: Asking the right questions. Getting the real story about what it was like-really like-to be a hero.

That was a specialty of mine, for better or worse: making people cry.
