This book is stressful. In all ways.
I’m stressed for the characters, stressed about the shadow creatures and the evil fathers, and stressed about WHAT IS GONNA HAPPEN CAUSE I CANT TELL.
I may be a writer but I’m surprisingly bad at predicting plots. Though most of the time I enjoy that because I can sit here stressed just waiting for the twists

Some books have enemies to lovers
This book has enemies and lovers in the friend group. I love Eoghan and Simone trying to be friends and bring the nations together, while their best friends are over here hating each other. It’s LOVELY
Also this book is freaking me out in a good way. Like the prose is so gorgeous I am feeling the paranoia
AND THE LIBRARY HUNT SCENE. The adrenaline was not good right before bed

Sometimes, I reach strange fantasy names and just roll with whatever it looks like in my head. But here, with the glorious pronunciation guide, I’m actually trying say their names correctly. And yeah, it feels a little foreign, but also SO RIGHT and rich in this world.

You know how there’s just some books you can feel are going to be amazing? Well this is one. I saw the cover, fell in love. (If you get this book, buy the hardcover. You will not regret it. It is THE MOST gorgeous thing ever) I saw the reviews from two people I really respect, and it sold me.
