In an attempt to stop continually harping on another trilogy and focus on this one: it's cool to see the genesis of the Z-95 Headhunter. One neat thing about this is that because it's so early, anything in this book (aside from things directly from EpIV) will be its very first appearance in the entire EU.
One strange thing is that my shitty ebook says Headhanter, every time. Usually the typos are inconsistent

Light, breezy, and really feels like Han. Utterly puts Crispin's terrible writing to shame. The fact that she weaved this trilogy into one of her books is nothing but a disservice to her own crap, because it starkly highlights how bad hers is.

Boosting on someone's shoulders to peek around a corner at a high level is some Counter-Strike shit, lol.
This isn't amazing, but it's fun. That's what's important.

The premise that a rich person would be so into droid fighting seems kind of backwards to me. It makes more sense that they'd be into making real people fight. That their money gives them the power of life and death over others. Making machines fight just seems really tame. But whatever not a big deal, and it's Star Wars after all. Droids are iconic

Ok, really didn't hang onto that mystery for long. It was revealed just a few pages after my last update. I was right, though. Felt like that could've been delayed for more effect, but this is rather short after all.

This is heating up. Sucks that Chewie got captured, but we know that's not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things. Shame about Rekkon. My money's on Torm; he was the first one to point a finger at someone else. That is usually a sign of guilt.
This is rather light and breezy - not much substance to it. But I think it works.

Ok, Daley just wrote the term 'palsy-walsy' unironically. And it wasn't even in dialogue, it was narration. I think I have to reevaluate any and all praise I ever gave this book.

I do think Daley's Han is perhaps a little too immature and a little too quick to (sometimes violent) anger. Like, Bollux saying one slightly annoying thing and Han immediately resorting to wanting to find a wrench or something to bludgeon the droid with is ridiculous and childish. It doesn't feel quite right. But, it's way damn closer to feeling authentic than Crispin's Han, that's for sure.

A character remarks that Han has spent his share of time in snubfighters. It would've been nice to actually have SEEN that in Crispin's trilogy. We see Han from when he first learned to pilot up until now and we only ever see him fly freighters. He didn't even own the Falcon until the 3rd book, so she had plenty of time to do anything she wanted. But nope. Practically with each page of this I am more baffled at her.

This has Han act exactly how he should, how we see him at the start of EpIV, which is slightly callous and uncaring. The problem is that this flies in the face of Crispin's trilogy, where he's a hero and pining over Bria for 9 years. It's dumb. I truly believe that Crispin just had no idea what she was writing, and also didn't care. The fact that she inserted this (thus far) far better trilogy into hers is funny.

This just established that Doc is famous among outlaws, and that Han has known about him for a long time. But in Rebel Dawn, right before Han sets off for the Corporate Sector, someone has to tell him about Doc. What the fuck, Crispin? You wrote your trilogy specifically with this trilogy in mind. You should have known this. God damn, the more I read of this, the more I get pissed off about how bad her trilogy is.
