Jacob is a “high school freshman at twelve and a college student at 16.” I’m going to try to keep an open mind - but already the author/narrator seems to completely blow by how incredibly impactful that experience can be for a kid. To be 2-3 years younger than every other student …. it’s more than just “oh I’m embarrassed about my age” - you are less developed. You are othered for very formative years
