Did you know that in the 1950s U.S. military doctors coined the term “Puerto Rican Syndrome” to describe the panic attacks Puerto Rican soldiers were experiencing during the Vietnam War and it made it into the DSM-5? The term is still synonymous to “ataque de nervios” which is supposed to be a cultural concept of distress..?

Did you ever take Jorge Guerra's class where he assigns We the Animals?

Absolutely, one of my favorite books to this day and the first time I ever read a book with Puerto Rican characters 🩷🇵🇷 I loved that class and the Latino Lit class with Ariana, I think of them often! 😊
